Easter Bunny’s Chocolate Fantasy Cake

Another cake that I was asked to make by a work colleague; this time to celebrate the fact that lent was over and she could eat both chocolate and cake again. It was a triple-layer devil’s food cake with a thick dark chocolate filling and an indulgent dark chocolate frosting that covered the cake. That was topped off with grated 70% dark chocolate and milk chocolate chunks. Before being finally crowned with a milk chocolate Lindt gold bunny.


Royal Chocolate Chip Cookies

These are the chocolate chip shortbread cookies that I was asked to make by a colleague at work. He was having a royal wedding celebration with his friends and asked if I would make something for the occasion. This is what I came up with.

Vive le France!

Nick at work ran the Paris marathon this year in order to raise money for an Alzheimer’s charity. Everyone who wanted a slice made a small donation and over £20 was raised from the cake alone.  It is a chocolate chip pound cake with cookies and cream filling. It’s simply decorated with a fondant french flag, number bib and stars.  He finished the race in the blistering heat in under four hours!

Glutton and Glee Carrot Cake

This carrot cake was from the new( Well I never knew until today) cafe Glutton and Glee.  It was a little dry but it might have been out a while. It had lots of chopped nuts in making it taste very nutty. Very strong cinnamon taste too. It had raisins in which was a nice touch along with a lot of carrot. Downsides were that the icing was just too sweet and thick. You can see the solid layer on it in the photo. The icing was really strange it tasted like milk or sweetened condensed milk.

So an average cake but well priced and alright if you leave most the icing (like I did).

Simple and Cute

This is the mini-cake that I made for my best friend’s 21st. It’s a lilac chocolate-chip sponge cake on the inside with a chocolate cream cheese icing  & morello cherry jam filling. The message was hand painted onto the fondant top and the matching lilac rose was also made from fondant.


Dense and chewy dark chocolate & raspberry brownies, absolutely delicious and a real hit at work.

Continental Cafe Carrot Cake

Unfortunately this was not a good carrot cake. It was dry (possibly from being in the cooler), it tasted of more than an hint of orange and the thick icing was too greasy for my liking. A below average carrot cake but by no means the worst I’ve had.
